The Kenya Federation of American Football (KFAF) is running a groundbreaking Flag Football Officials Clinic that’s already changing the game.
With 95 years of combined expertise, five international referees are pouring knowledge into 20 young and eager Kenyan officials. Every session is packed with lessons, mentorship, and the kind of real-world insight that can’t be found in books.
Lead trainer Mostafa explained his motivation clearly: “The reason I am leading this clinic is not because of my experience, but because of my background as a teacher. Being able to pour out my knowledge and help build a program for another country is deeply fulfilling.”
Moses Waweru, who has been the lead organizer from KFAF, reflected on how this collaboration came to life: “I met Mostafa during the Youth Championships in Cairo, and his demeanor spoke volumes as he mentored me while officiating for seniors. That connection has grown into a relationship that brought us here today.”
KFAF Secretary General, Shisoka, underlined the federation’s vision: “We are being very deliberate and strategic in the development of the sport, particularly the professional side. We’ve run clinics for coaches, now we’re building referees, and soon we will extend the same empowerment to KFAF management as well.”
For KFAF, this clinic isn’t just another training—it’s part of a deliberate strategy. Professional development and upskilling are central pillars in building a strong foundation for the sport. By investing in officials, KFAF is ensuring that flag football in Kenya grows with the structure, standards, and credibility it needs to compete on the global stage.
The future is being built now—and it looks bright.
