SOMETHING NEW IS COMING

Flag football in Kenya has been played on grass pitches, school fields, and campus grounds. On 20th September, that changes. For the first time, KFAF brings the game to an artificial turf surface under full floodlights — at M-Pesa Foundation Academy in Nairobi. The setting alone makes this something different. But with 16 confirmed teams, burning rivalries, surprise new sides, and a pre-season that means everything going into 2026–2027, the football will do the rest.

Come for the atmosphere. Stay for the football. Bring your friends. The lights come on at 2 PM and the last ball is snapped at 10 PM. There is no entry fee. There is no excuse not to be there.

RIVALRIES TO WATCH — WOMEN’S CATEGORY

Six Teams. One Pre-Season Title. Zero Guarantees.

The women’s bracket is where the fireworks start. Six teams go head-to-head for the pre-season opener crown — and the competition is already talking.

The Matchup to Watch:

🔥

Hurricanes Women

VS

JKUAT Sparlettes

The Hurricanes and the JKUAT Sparlettes carry the history. These are two sides that know each other, dislike losing to each other, and bring everything when the match is on the line. The Hurricanes, who had six athletes in the national squad showed incredible resilience at the 2026 NFL Africa Continental Championship, will be hunting for a strong pre-season statement. The Sparlettes will have other ideas as they are he reigning KFAF League champions 2025. “ We are well rested and had a good preseason, challengers will find us ready.

⚡ The Surprise Package:

City Stags Women. An unbeaten record in pre-season friendlies and a squad with a point to prove. Do not sleep on this team. They could be the story of the entire tournament.

RIVALRIES TO WATCH — MEN’S CATEGORY

Ten Teams. One Arch-Rivalry. One Wild Card.

The men’s bracket has ten teams and one fixture that overshadows everything else on the card.

The Arch-Rivalry:

⚔️

Mighty Nyati

VS

JKUAT Sparrows

Nyati vs Sparrows. This is the fixture the league was built on. Two sides that have been going at each other from the earliest days of competitive flag football in Kenya. Everything is dialled up when these two meet — the intensity, the noise, the standard of play. Under the lights at M-Pesa Foundation, in front of a full crowd, this game will be unmissable.

⚡ New Blood to Watch:

City Stags Men — formed by former JKUAT Sparrows alumni under the leadership of Ian Seboru who decided the time was right to build something of their own. They have not lost a pre-season friendly. “We are not here to make up numbers.  We are here to challenge for the title, and the pedigree is there to back it up.” Said Seboru.

Alpha Squad — a brand new side joining the league and already turning heads. Every team was new once. Alpha Squad look like they are about to make people remember that fact the hard way. The team under the leadership of founder and CEO Will Nonluecha has also send a strong message to the opposition. “We may be a new team, but we have plenty of experience and we know how that can shift momentum when the game gets tough.”
